A VILLAGE community centre has its own Christmas tree thanks to a building contractor.
Housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat made the donation as part of its 12 Deeds of Christmas initiative.
Keepmoat invited its clients to nominate deserving community groups and explain what good deed was required and why they were being nominated.
Staff from Keepmoat identified the 12 organisations that they would like to support and started delivering the deeds last week.
Pelton Community Centre in Chester-le-Street, County Durham was presented with a 7ft real Christmas tree . Keepmoat is working in the Chester-le-Street area, carrying out roofing works to homes owned by social landlord, Cestria Community Housing.
Centre manager Clare Foreman said: “I requested a real tree to go in our main hall in preparation for our Christmas lunches, dances, parties, events and Christmas fair.
“We are delighted that Keepmoat has donated a real tree for all our volunteers, local families and community members to enjoy, thank you.”
