AN AMATEUR dramatics group is preparing to take to the stage once again next week (January 9-13).

Dryburn Theatrical Workshop will stage a pantomime version of Aladdin at the Park View Theatre complex, in Chester-le-Street, from January 9 to 13.

Claire Jordan will star as Aladdin, Emma Scott will play Princess Mandarin, Phil Martin is the Genie and Libby Kennedy takes the role of So-Shy.

Malcolm Quinn, the group’s chairman, said: “Aladdin is one of those bigger than life pantomimes which provides the chance for everyone to escape into the magical world of the Arabian nights and for us to have fun with such a traditional story and a new and exciting script.”

There will be performances at 7.15pm on January 9, 10 and 11, 2.30pm and 6.30pm on January 12 and 2.30pm on January 13. Tickets are £9 for adults, £8 for children and concessions. All opening night seats are priced £7.
