POLICE are appealing for information after a break-in at a house in Birtley.

It happened between 8.20am and 1.30pm on Thursday, January 17, at Robson's Way in Birtley, when the offender broke in and stolen a laptop, Xbox 360 games console and associated games, and an Armani watch.

Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Hamilton said: "This burglary happened in broad daylight and I'd urge any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

"I'd like to remind people in the area to be vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious activity or vehicles in their neighbourhood to police at the earliest opportunity.

"Electrical items such as the stolen Xbox can be registered online, meaning if it's stolen it is easily identifiable with the rightful owner.

" I'd urge people to ensure they register such items, including games consoles, iPads and mobile phones, and make the most of built in tracking systems that are available."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
