PET lovers are being urged to make sure they leave a will to protect their loved ones in future.

Only one-third of the population has made a will according to national surveys, but the charity PDSA is holding a legacy awareness month to encourage people to consider making their final wishes known.

One of the charity’s legacy officers will visit the PDSA store in Front Street, in Chester-le-Street on Monday, February 25 from 10am to 4pm.

Visitors will be offered advice on making a will to benefit family, friends and charities.

PDSA Legacy Development Manager, Ruth Lister said: "At present, gifts in wills fund two out of every three free treatments provided by the charity. That is how important legacies are to our work".
