Soldier's new life running all-female gym

A SOLDIER has swapped the Army for an all-female fitness centre.
Glenn Hill, 38, spent 20 years in uniform, serving in the Royal Engineers as an airborne engineer and fitness instructor.
He has spent his redundancy money on the Ladies at Leisure Gymnasium in Chester-le-Street, where he is starting a new career as a personal trainer.
And he hopes to help the region tackle its problems with obesity and lack of fitness by calling on his Army experience.
“I have always been really keen on fitness and I wanted to get out of the Army and become a personal trainer,” the former staff sergeant said.
“A friend of a friend told me about this gym that was struggling and I thought I could make a few improvements.
“My first plan was to work as a personal trainer for a studio but I decided to risk it.
“It is going great. I didn’t know it was going to work because it’s an all-ladies gym and I am the only guy in there.
“I do training with the girls , they have got used to me being round there It is as good as I could expect.”
Mr Hill, originally from Hartlepool, believes his Army training and experience can help his 500-plus members in their quest for fitness.
The centre will hold an open week when women can visit for free between April 29 and May 3.
