A RECENTLY-revamped pub has won an award for its cask ale.
The Lambton Worm, in North Road, Chester-le-Street, was shut for some time but reopened earlier this year after a £500,000 makeover.
Now called the Lambton Worm Sonnet 43 Brew Pub and Restaurant, it has a separate bar and restaurant area and serves real ales created by owners Tavistock Leisure's own brewery in Coxhoe.
It has won the Best Cask Beer Pub 2013 title for Yorkshire, North East and Scotland in the BT Sport Great British Pub Awards 2013 and goes into national finals.
The awards are organised industry magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
In September the pub will go head to head with other regional winners for the UK title and compete for the overall title of Great British Pub of the Year 2013.
The award is sponsored by Greene King IPA.
