10:37am Tuesday 5th November 2013 in News
THOUSANDS of spectators are expected to attend a fireworks spectacular tonight (Tues) in the grounds of Beamish Museum.
The events field at the award-winning outdoor museum will celebrate Bonfire Night with a fireworks display.
Doors open at 6pm, with the bonfire lit at 7pm. The first fireworks will light up the sky at 7.30pm.
The event, the largest in County Durham, replaces the annual Bonfire Night celebration which was held in the grounds of Durham Police Headquarters at Aykley Heads for three decades.
The Beamish event is supported by Durham Constabulary, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and Durham Agency Against Crime and will feature displays of emergency vehicles.
Admission is £4 per person and further details are available at www.beamish.org.uk or on 0191 370 4000 until 4pm.
Meanwhile, Consett Fire Station in Villa Real Road, will also host a free fireworks event starting at 6.45pm tonight.
