POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car was set on fire and destroyed at Great Lumley.

It happened on Friday (November 29) aAt about 10.25pm when a man was seen to approach a parked silver Vauxhall Vectraparked in Loefield before pouring a substance over the bonnet and setting it alight. He then ran away and a short while later was seen in the company of another man near the scene. Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident to get in touch.

“This incident is particularly serious as the car was completely burned out, causing thousands of pounds of damage,” said Detective Constable Fantin.
