ANIMAL charity staff and volunteers are asking supporters to donate furniture to help raise funds.

The PDSA shop in Chester-le-Street is asking for donations of good quality furniture, especially three-piece suites, desks and chairs, to raise funds for the veterinary charity.

Philip Clark, manager of the Front Street shop, said: “If you’ve recently redecorated, had a clear-out or moved house and have unwanted furniture taking up your valuable space, then why not donate your items to PDSA?

“Wardrobes, drawers, dressers, dining tables and chairs, as well as items such as fridge freezers, cookers and washers are very popular with our customers who are looking to furnish their homes at bargain prices.

“All donations will help us raise valuable funds to care for the sick and injured pets of local people in need.”

Volunteers will collect suitable items for free and anyone wishing to book a collection should call 0191-3881676 or alternatively, call into the shop which is open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

For health and safety reasons, the PDSA can only accept furniture that has the fire-warning label relating to the 1988 regulations.
