GREASE will be the word as a musical extravaganza takes to the stage next month.
The rock n’ roll classic Grease The Musical is to be performed at Stanley Civic Hall for a four night run starting on Wednesday, July 2.
Based on the Broadway show first produced more than 40 years ago, the show features all the songs made famous in the hit John Travolta and Olivia Newton John movie including Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’ and You’re The One That I Want.
Produced by Chester-le-Street-based theatre group Astravaganza Entertainment, the show features a 40-strong cast playing the students of Rydell High School and directed by Marjorie Bolam.
She said: “We have a talented and enthusiastic cast of young performers who have worked very hard with me to recreate the happy, carefree atmosphere of that era and, with our seven-piece live band of great musicians, I’m sure we will have our audiences on their feet singing along and dancing in the aisles at each performance.”
Tickets for the show, priced £12 or £11 for concessions and £10 for the Wednesday performance, are on sale from Stanley Civic Hall box office on 01207 299110 or 0333 666 3366.
Performances take place at 7.15pm each evening.
