THE leader of an Army reserve unit has moved to pastures new after five years at the helm.

Major Chris Prince stepped down as officer commanding 124 Recovery Company Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (Reme) last month.

His departure follows an appointment with 15 Brigade Replacement Team in York.

Captain Philip Rolfe, the president of the South West Durham Reme Association, presented Major Prince with a plaque to thank him for his dedication over the years.

“Chris has always led by example and has been respected by his peers and soldiers throughout his Territorial Army career,” said Captain Rolfe.

“Chris has had an active time in the TA, serving at a number of locations in the UK as well as Belgium, Holland, Canada, Germany and Iraq.”

Major Chris Hardy, formerly of 168 Pioneer Corps, is taking over as officer commanding.

Anyone in the Newton Aycliffe area who is interested in joining the TA should contact 01325-307220.
