POLICE are urging Darlington residents to be vigilant about locking their cars as thefts from insecure vehicles continue across the town.

A police spokesman said: “Many of these thefts are of low value but inconvenient and upsetting to the owners.

“Please remember to check and make sure your car is locked before leaving it and remove all valuables from sight.

“If you see anyone trying car door handles or notice anything else suspicious, please ring the police on 101 and report it straight away.”
