NINE singers from across the region teamed up with a band to perform a charity gig.

Trish Greensmith and Ian Slater, who perform as Chyrelle Addams and Brandon James, enlisted fellow singers and band The Hunter to stage the event at Chilton and Windlestone Working Men’s Club on Thursday.

Breast cancer survivor Mrs Greensmith, who founded The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust based in Willington, said the night was a huge success.

She said: “There was a sell out audience and it was a really great night, so good I think we’ll do it every six months.

“I’m hoping the total raised will be around £3,000, our funds always go on equipment or a project in the North East so people know their money is helping local people.”

The money will be used by the Trust to install outside decking and disabled access at its holiday home in Crimdon Dene, near Hartlepool.

Mrs Greensmith added: “It is a place for cancer families to enjoy quality time, recharge their batteries and have a break.

“At a time when you really need a holiday it can be difficult to get one, not least because the cost of insurance is crippling, so we keep the price low at £40 a week.”
