A DISGRUNTLED man channelled his frustration at being asked to leave his own home by slashing the tyres of a nearby car.

Cameron McKenna was upset at being turfed out of his home when a visitor wanted to speak to someone else inside the property in private.

Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court heard on Wednesday (September 24) that the 18-year-old took his anger out on the visitor’s rental car by slashing its nearside rear tyre with a piece of glass, causing £140 worth of damage.

He pleaded guilty to criminal damage in court.

Mitigating, Alan Green said McKenna had been “manhandled” out of his home and had then spent 12-hours in a police cell after being arrested for the incident on July 26.

McKenna, of Melsonby Crescent, Darlington, was given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £75 compensation.
