SCHOOLCHILDREN hit all the right notes when they recorded a CD of songs promoting love, respect and kindness.
Youngsters at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe have been working with Pop UK – a Christian charity that teaches spiritual, moral and cultural values through music.
The week-long project saw the children learn seven songs, each of which focused on a different theme, such as self belief, love, kindness and respecting the planet.
Then, in true pop star style, the little singers recorded a CD, before giving a live concert at nearby Greenfield Community College in front of their proud friends and family.
Headteacher Grainne Duffy said: “The concert was wonderful. The children all had huge smiles on their faces and loved having the opportunity to perform on a real stage in front of a big crowd.
“The atmosphere was fantastic.”
Lesley Swinney, teaching assistant and choir leader at St Joseph’s Primary School, added: “We really value music here. It boosts children’s confidence, raises the spirit and is an effective teaching method.”
