MEMBERS of the self-styled Darlington Liberation Army (DLA) will take to the streets in protest against the town’s council.
The DLA – set up following recent conflict between some town centre traders and Darlington Borough Council – aims to encourage transparency and exposed alleged town hall wrong-doing.
The group endeavours to act as a channel for frustrated residents and traders to voice their opinions on the council and its policies.
It has attracted almost 1,000 supporters online, with a number of those expected to turn out in person ahead of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday (October 15).
The protest has been organised in opposition to council plans to spend £50,000 to advance feasibility, design and planning works in relation to a potential riverside development in the town centre.
DLA members are expected to congregate in front of Darlington Town Hall from 4.30pm on the day of the meeting
The cabinet meeting will be held from 5pm, also at the town hall.
