SHARP legal minds from a Darlington law firm were victorious in a quiz that raised more than £1,000 for charity.

A total of 13 teams, from businesses across the town, joined in the event, which was sponsored by car dealership Sherwoods.

Staff from Coniscliffe Road law firm Clive Owen and Co LLP won, ahead of teams from HSBC and Macks Solicitors.

Quizmaster and hospice trustee Steve Rose said: "As an event aimed at challenging some of the businesses the help the hospice throughout the year, it was great to have a bit of fun and there was a very worthy winner."

Other particpants included a team from the hospice itself, from Teesside University and from Darlington Borough Council.

Journalists from The Northern Echo took part, but could only finish in sixth place.
