DARLINGTON dancers twirled and twisted their way to more than 50 trophies in a competition last weekend.

Eight competitors from Born To Dance took part in the Muriel Harrison Festival of Dance, at the Deptford and Millfield community centre, in Sunderland, last Sunday (November 9).

They competed against four other schools from Sunderland and the wider Tyne and Wear area, in disciplines including ballet, tap, modern, song and dance and lyrical.

The team members, who won a combined 54 trophies, were: Shannon Wigley, Hannah Short, Anna Siddall, Millie Turley, Lillie Coates, Ellie Bancroft, Jennifer Taylor and Jennifer Davis.

Born To Dance owner Sue Henderson said: "The dancers are aged from nine to 14.

"I am so proud of them and their achievements prove that hard work pays off.

"They have taken part in other competitions this year, but that was the last one before Christmas."

Although the competing is over for this year, Born To Dance members are preparing for their Christmas show, at Hummersknott Academy, on Sunday, December 14.
