AN artist who first exhibited in Darlington’s library more than two decades ago is holding an exhibition at the Bridge Centre.
Paul Dillon, who runs art courses at the centre, will be showing his work alongside guest artist Heather Kinsella until February 2.
Mr Dillon’s work is inspired by the landscape of South Durham and North Yorkshire and his striking paintings have proved very popular with Darlington residents – over 5,000 visitors attended his Forest Light II exhibition at Crown Street Library last year.
He describes his work as having ‘no agenda’ and ‘no concepts’, rather he prefers to explore and perfect techniques that capture a fleeting sense of the places he loves.
Now based at The Bridge Centre, Mr Dillon tutors a popular series of courses, demonstrating many of the varied and unusual methods he uses in his work.
These include wax resist, adding salt, ink and sawdust to watercolour washes and scratch back and splattering oils and acrylics.
