A winter wonderland awaited elderly visitors to a sixth form college this week.

Students from Polam Hall transformed their dining room for their annual Jack Frost Christmas party, welcoming 45 guests from the Darlington Town Mission to the festive event.

Visitors were treated to refreshments and entertainment from singer and head girl Chelsea Morrison, accompanied by Kemer Aydin.

A Christmas quiz and festive sing-a-long followed while sixth form members were on hand throughout to pour tea and offer mince pies and Christmas cake.

The Jack Frost party ended with each guest receiving a card and present.

Sue Dobson, head of sixth form, said: “This is a great event not only for the Darlington Town Mission but also for our students who have thoroughly enjoyed the organisation of the party as well as the hosting aspect – it’s a great way to build stronger relationships between the generations.

She added: “The Darlington Mission is a wonderful local organisation that works to alleviate loneliness and gives practical advice and assistance to Darlington's older population, and it’s great to be able to lend support.”
