A GROUP of Darlington workers have swapped legal documents for music sheets to form the first ever Disclosure and Barring Service choir.

Staff from the town’s DBS office have been brought together under the watchful eye of choirmaster Phil Hall to create the DBS Choir.

Mr Hall, an experienced musician, has ensured that each member has played their part and learnt to harmonise alongside their colleagues.

Residents of two care homes in Darlington served as the first audiences for the choir after the group tested out their festive medley on their colleagues with a warm-up show last week.

Mr Hall is delighted with the effort of the group and said: “The DBS Darlington Choir have worked really hard to bring some seasonal joy to our colleagues and also to residents of local care homes.

“They are a wonderful example of our staff working together to bring some happiness into people’s lives.”

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is a Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Home Office.

Its primary role is to help employers in England and Wales make safer recruitment decisions by providing services for criminal record checks and barring lists, among other things.
