DARLINGTON’S ice rink has enjoyed its most successful year to date, with record numbers enjoying the attraction.

The rink was based in the Market Square over the festive period and into the early New Year and figures now released by Bid company Distinct Darlington show that ticket sales were up by 13 per cent on last year.

This is an increase of 34 per cent on sales in 2012.

It is the third time the attraction has been based in the town and Distinct Darlington manager Alex Hirst is delighted it continues to grow in popularity.

She said: “Once again the ice rink has been a huge success.

“Not only did it provide some winter fun for families but it also proved very popular with groups of all ages – we even had bookings from business people looking for an alternative office Christmas outing.”

Hot on the heels of the success of its ice rink, Distinct Darlington is now preparing to launch the latest edition of its Little Book of Offers.

The books, which contain vouchers to be used against services and purchases from a wide range of independent and big name stores, will be available, free of charge, from February 1 from outlets across the town centre.
