AN exhibition exploring the different nursing organisations that served during the Great War is running at the Head of Steam museum in Darlington.
Everybody’s Darling: The First World War Nurse runs until March 15 and highlights the experiences of the thousands of women who served as nurses during the First World War.
While many assisted in hospitals at home, others worked close to the battlefields, meaning that nurses were closer to the front-line than in any previous conflict.
History continues to thrive at the Head of Steam next month with the visit of the ever-popular History Wardrobe on February 13.
The performers will stage Oh My Poor Nerves: Health and Hypochondria in Jane Austen’s England which is a fascinating insight into maladies real and imaginary, with a selection of medical artefacts and a very spirited invalid.
Tickets cost £8.50 each and include a complimentary tea or coffee and pre-booking is essential.
Tickets are available from the museum reception, or during museum opening times on 01325-460532.
