POLICE have thanked the public for helping with their appeal to identify youths causing a nuisance at a Darlington supermarket but say investigations are ongoing.

As previously reported in The Northern Echo, police have been repeatedly called to the Victoria Road Sainsbury’s to deal with gangs of youths causing trouble by riding their bikes in the shop and intimidating customers.

A Facebook appeal led to some suspects being identified but officers have now established that they were not responsible or involved in the ongoing issues at the store.

A Police spokesman said: “We are still working closely with security to address the issues and will still utilise Facebook as a medium by which to identify those responsible.”

Anybody with information about who is causing trouble at the supermarket should contact police on 101 and should not post personal information of suspects on the Darlington Police Facebook page.
