A TIRELESS community worker, dedicated to supporting people in need, has been awarded a Chairman’s Medal in recognition of for her work.
Susan Sadler, founder of Lifeline Community Action in Newton Aycliffe, was chosen by Durham County Council chairman, Councillor John Robinson, as the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership recipient of this year’s Chairman’s Medal.
Lifeline Community Action is a registered charity which helps thousands of people in financial crisis through its Helping Hands project.
Camilla Louise Shergold, who nominated Mrs Sadler, said: “It doesn’t seem that Susan has a day off.
“It’s not all plain sailing, she has never given up, when many others say, it’s too difficult.”
Mrs Saddler said: “I feel very humbled by it all. I am part of a very strong team and this award is as much for them as it is for me.”
The Chairman’s Medal was introduced in 2007 and is the county’s top civic award.
A presentation ceremony will take place on Friday, March 13.
