TWO Darlington police officers have been recognised for going above and beyond the line of duty.
PC Tony Young and PCSO Chris O’Brien were recently nominated by members of the public to receive an award for their efforts in the community.
The pair were presented with WOW Awards by Chief Superintendent Graham Hall on Friday, March 13, having been nominated by residents of Park Place, Darlington.
WOW Awards are given to recognise outstanding customer service, with members of the public nominating employees that have made them ‘go WOW!’ as a result of their service.
The residents of Park Place, a Darlington Borough Council run ‘good neighbour site’ with 100 flats and a community centre, nominated PC Young and PCSO O’Brien for the work they had done within the community.
This included arranging replacement plant pots and plants after those belonging to a “devastated” elderly resident were stolen.
The officers were also commended for their work among the wider community of residents living around Park Place.
In addition to organising litter picks, the pair set up ‘cuppa with a copper’ events for tenants to attend, and were praised for dealing with all issues and fears raised in a compassionate way.
