HIGH tea and show tunes were served up at a care home today (Wednesday, March 18) as part of a campaign to promote the importance of nutrition and hydration.
Willowdene Care Home in Sedgefield held a special tea party to coincide with Nutrition and Hydration Week, an international campaign which highlights these issues in health and social care settings.
Worldwide Afternoon Tea is the highlight of the week, with healthcare organisations across the world taking part to raise awareness and promote good practice.
Research has shown those who eat well recover from illness quicker, find it easier to stay alert and engage in activities and have a better overall quality of life.
At Willowdene, residents enjoy cups of tea while watching singer Samantha Holdon perform songs from their favourite musicals.
Activities coordinator Angela Penman said: “Proper nutrition and hydration is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and something that affects all of us so it was wonderful to celebrate such an important cause with friends, family and those from our local community.
“We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea party and being treated to some lovely show tunes from Samantha.”
