AN exhibition of eye-catching artwork by a Darlington-based artist has opened at the town’s Crown Street Art Gallery.

The collection features drawings and paintings by Colin Graham created over the last decade and is open until May 7.

Mr Graham is supervising the exhibition, meaning visitors can ask him questions and find out more about the work on display, as well as buying items on sale.

Born in North Lincolnshire and based in Darlington, Mr Graham has exhibited around North Lincolnshire, in the North and North-East of England and in London.

Throughout his career he has lectured on art and given drawing and painting demonstrations to artists, and works in a range of mediums, including watercolours, pastels, charcoal, pen and ink and pencil.

Describing his work, Mr Graham said: “My work is, I suppose, seeking to describe a relationship between realistic and abstract imagery; to explore links between thinking, feeling and outcomes.”

The Crown Street Gallery exhibition is free and accessible during normal library opening times.

Mr Graham will also host an artist’s talk at the gallery at 7pm on Wednesday, April 1.
