DARLINGTON residents are being invited to contribute to a search to find the UK's most unappealing view.

DirectBlinds.co.uk is looking to hear from householders who can only dream of seeing a beautifully tranquil vista when they look out of their window in the morning.

Last year, a homeowner in Kent's view of an industrial estate was crowned as having the country's worst view and won a set of blinds for their trouble.

Darlington has much that is beautiful – South Park, the Five Pound Note bridge and St Cuthbert's Church to name but three examples.

But, let's be honest, there are also some less attractive sights around the town.

Homeowners in Darlington, who think that last year’s ‘industrial horror’ is nothing compared to their terrible view are encouraged to join in and share the view from their window at home.

Do the bright lights of North Road illuminate up your bedroom throughout the night?

Are litter-filled streets giving you nightmares, or is there a piece of architecture that leaves you shaking your head?

Direct Blinds is also asking for entries via Pinterest and Instagram, with a set of customised blinds on offer for Britain's worst view of 2015.

Nicolas Swift, joint managing director of Direct Blinds, said: “Last year we found a homeowner in Kent who looks out on an industrial estate every day, but we think there could be even worse views out there.

“This is the perfect opportunity for those in Darlington who spend their time at home looking out on an awful landscape to change their view with a new blind.”
