STAFF and customers at a Newton Aycliffe gym have donated more than 100 Easter eggs to a nearby hospice.

Throughout Lent, Lifestyle Fitness, based in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, has been collecting chocolate eggs for St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington and has been overwhelmed by the response.

Earlier this week, leisure centre staff dropped off 137 eggs at the hospice, with more arriving each day.

The eggs will be used in the annual St Teresa’s Hospice Egg Tombola, which takes place in Queen Street Shopping Centre in Darlington every day until Saturday, April 4.

Kendra Hulbert, a sales executive at Lifestyle Fitness, said: “We wanted to do something to support a local charity and have supported St Teresa’s in the past. We have received an amazing response in club from staff, gym members and the public. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported us.”
