A CHARITY leader who has helped improved the health and well being of hundreds of people has stepped down.

Carol Briggs has been involved with the Newton Aycliffe-based Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) from the beginning and served as chairwoman of the trustees for 13 years.

During that time she has helped the PCP become a highly respected charity with a focus on improving health and wellbeing.

She is handing on the mantle to Melanie Fordham, a board member with experience in health service management, and will remain a board member herself.

Carol Gaskarth, chief executive of the PCP, said: “We are sorry to see Carol step down as chair after making such a difference during her time in the role. However I am looking forward to working more closely with Melanie.

“PCP is a fantastic charity and will be looking at ways to be even more innovative and creative in our approaches to support people in the future.”
