A MAN has organised a star-studded night of entertainment to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK.

Olly Murs and Michael Buble impersonators will perform hits from the artists' back catalogues on Saturday, April 25, April at Mainsforth Community Centre in Ferryhill, County Durham from 7pm.

The evening will also feature a stand-up performance from comedian Rudi West and a fully licensed bar will be available.

Bill Holdsworth, the event organiser, said: “I have Parkinson’s myself and so have first-hand experience of what it is like to live with the condition.

“The funds I raise will contribute to making a difference to other people living with Parkinson’s, and hopefully find better treatments and a cure in the near future.

“I hope everyone will come along to the tribute evening and have a great night out.”

The event will take place during Parkinson’s Awareness Week (20-26 April), which aims to help the public to understand the reality of life with Parkinson's and what they can do to help.

Mr Holdsworth arranged a similar event last year which raised £1,600 to help find better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s. He is hoping to build on the success and raise £2,000 this year

Abby Robinson, North-East regional fundraiser at Parkinson’s UK, said: “I’d like to thank Bill for supporting Parkinson’s UK for a second year.

“As the UK’s Parkinson’s support and research charity we’re leading the work to find a cure, and we’re closer than ever. But our work is dependent on donations.”

Tickets cost £5 and are available from Colin’s Fish Bar in Ferryhill on by contacting Mr Holdsworth on 07814-965724.
