A WOMAN assaulted two police officers while drunk, a court has heard.

Lori Beattie, 32, plead guilty to two charges of assault on PCs Lesley Nixon and Kathrine Wright, one of obstructing/resisting PC Nixon in the execution of her duty and being drunk and disorderly on March 2.

She appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court where prosecutor Vickie Wilson told the court how the officers were called to remove her from an address in Chilton where the 32-year-old was drunk.

Ms Wilson said Beattie, of Newton Aycliffe, left the address but then began to shout and scream in the street and refused to calm down.

She was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly but refused to calm down and lashed out and swore at both PCs.

She then attempted to head butt both women and spat at PC Nixon while she also kicked her in the shins.

Robert Willoughby, mitigating, said his client had health problems including suffering from central core disease, a rare genetic disease which affected only four people in the UK.

He also said she was suffering the after effects of a broken collarbone and was “having a particularly bad day” that day after falling out with her boyfriend and arguing with her mother.

Magistrate, Ann Turnbull, gave Beattie a nine-month community order with a rehabilitation requirement for 15 days and a weekend curfew for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 7pm until 7pm.

The curfew will last eight weeks and she also fined Beattie £425.

“This is your chance to get some help and I think you should take it,” Ms Turnbull said.
