YOUNGSTERS created a vision to transform a caravan and rundown area of land into an “amazing space” when they took part in a design challenge backed by Channel 4’s George Clarke.
DurhamGate business park teamed up with architects FaulknerBrowns and Colour Urban Design to boost the employability skills of Whitworth Park School in Spennymoor.
The project saw youngsters come up with ways to rejuvenate a disused patch of land within the school grounds, incorporating a caravan donated by Mears and livin.
The children were given a starting budget of £5,000 and tasked with securing additional funds throughout the project.
Sunderland-born Clarke, a former FaulknerBrowns employee and star of The Home Show, The Restoration Man and Amazing Spaces, endorsed the project and offered advice to the young designers.
He said: “I hope my Amazing Spaces series has inspired you to draw, design and build for many years to come. Keep up the brilliant work and I look forward to seeing many more of your amazing caravan designs!”
