THE enchanting world of Peter Rabbit has captured the imagination of creative youngsters at a popular fun club.

Trimdon Station Community Association received £1,250 from County Durham Community Foundation to run a Beatrix Potter themed craft project at its twice-weekly fun club.

Over the last month, children, parents and volunteers have been depicting Peter Rabbit and friends in colourful artwork and building up a collection of the famous children’s author’s books.

Plans have also been drawn up for a trip to the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness, Cumbria, this summer.

Andrea Dodsworth, who organised the project, said: “We came up with the idea last year as a couple of the kids loved Peter Rabbit. It has been great fun and the children absolutely love the display.”

The fun club meets at Community House in May Crescent, Trimdon Station, County Durham, from 4pm to 5.15pm on Wednesday and 5pm to 7pm on Friday.

It is open to children aged one to 12, although and youngsters aged one to five must be accompanied by an adult.

The Wednesday session is free and the Friday session costs 20p.

New members are always welcome.
