A BRAVE baby has inspired a charity event in aid of the hospital which treated him.
Ten-week old Roman Williams has been cared for in the children’s heart unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle since he was born.
The youngster, pictured with his identical twin brother, Hunter (correct) has been diagnosed with a rare heart condition known as Pulmonary Artesia with Intact Ventricular Septum.
His family, including parents Zoe Pickering and Craig Williams, from Fishburn, and Ms Pickering’s cousin Michal Parkin, were keen to give something back and earlier this month held a charity night.
The event, at Fishburn Youth and Community Centre, raised £1,280 for the heart unit and featured races, Irish bingo, raffle, tombola and performance by singer Katie West.
Mr Parkin said: “It was a great night. More than 100 people attended and we would like to thank everyone for their support.”
