BUILDING society staff are gearing up to support an intrepid cyclist’s 200-mile charity challenge.

Staff at the Tubwell Row branch of Darlington Building Society have given their backing to Robin Raine, who is cycling from Glasgow to Penrith, alongside 14 of his fellow Darlington Rotary Club members.

The 235-mile trip got underway last Friday (May 8) and all money raised will go to local charities.

Their fundraising has been bolstered by a £50 donation from Darlington Building Society, who have also raised £89 for the Darlington and District MS Society in an Easter raffle.

Mr Raine said: “Last year’s trip was an amazing experience and we were all delighted with the amount of money that we raised for some fantastic causes.

“The money Darlington Building Society has donated has given us a great start towards beating our total for last year.”

Ellie Durham, customer service consultant at Darlington Building Society, said: “Darlington Building Society prides itself on looking after local interests and we are delighted to support Robin’s fundraising efforts.

“The communities that we work in are the lifeblood of the Society and supporting local charities and organisations is a big part of our ethos.”
