A DARLINGTON GP practice has been praised by inspectors.

A quality report from the Care Quality Commission gave the Neasham Road Surgery an overall rating of good.

An inspection in March found that the practice provided a good standard of care, had a good understanding of their patients and treated them with dignity and respect.

The inspectors also described some aspects of the practice’s operation as outstanding, highlighting enhanced care plans, additional voluntary services for hospice patients and the offer of a guided tour of the practice for visually impaired patients.

The surgery’s success is echoed in the most recent NHS England GP patient survey where 88.4 per cent of their patients rated their experience as good or very good, a figure above the national average.

The report said: “The majority of patients we spoke to and comment cards indicated they were satisfied with the service provided, that they were treated with dignity, respect and care and that staff were thorough, professional and approachable.”

It also recommended that the staff work to improve patient privacy in the surgery’s reception area.

Neasham Road Surgery provides primary medical services to around 11,200 patients in an urban area of Darlington.
