A BASS guitar signed by Sting will be up for grabs at a charity ball being held next week.

The Signature Series Fender Bass, which has been signed by the former Police Frontman, will be auctioned at the ball being held in aid of Heel And Toe.

The charity, which started in Spennymoor, County Durham, before recently moving to Framwellgate Moor in Durham City, supports children with cerebral palsy and dyspraxia.

The ball will be held at Newcastle Civic Centre on Friday, November 11.

Amanda Tweedy, development and fundraising officer for Heel and Toe said: “When we sent an email to Sting’s management in New York asking if he would support Heel and Toe, we really didn’t expect to hear anything back because we know he must be inundated with requests of this nature. “To our surprise and delight, the following day we received an email saying Sting would very much like to donate this fantastic item to our auction. “It really was extremely generous of him and we know it will fetch a lot of money on the night."

The charity offers free conductive education therapy to children with motor disorders across the region and needs to raise £300,000 a year to keep going.

It started in 2008 with four children and now welcomes more than 50 every week.

Tickets cost £60 per person or £550 for a table of 10 and include a Champagne Reception, four course meal with wine, raffle and auction and band and disco.
