A BABY cafe is to open later this month.

The baby cafe movement, which launched 13 years ago, is a national network of breastfeeding drop-in sessions.

A new cafe is to be launched at Ushaw Moor Children’s Centre and will be officially opened by Durham City MP Roberta Blackman-Woods on June 28.

Gillian Trotter, early years practitioner at the centre, said: "Breastfeeding is the most natural way for us to feed our babies, we recognise, however, that it isn’t always easy.

"Being part of the baby café means we are able to provide an even better level of support to breastfeeding mothers than we ever have done before."

Breastfeeding mothers, their families and partners are welcome to drop into the Durham County Council-run centre on Durham Road, in Ushaw Moor every Friday between 9.45am and 11.30am.
