Rugby match honours memory of Richard 'Rick' Taylor

A RUGBY match in memory of a well known North-East player and coach is being held to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Richard Taylor, known as Rick, died in July last year from a heart condition.

He played rugby for Stockton and Acklam, was a Durham County referee and coached both junior and senior sides at Stockton, Acklam and Darlington.

His rugby playing sons, Dan and Steve, have organised a fundraising memorial match on Saturday, July 27, at Stockton Rugby Club’s Ground in Station Road, Norton, kicking-off at 3pm.

A team comprised of players who Mr Taylor either played with or coached, will form as a Stockton select against an Acklam side including guests from other clubs.

Anyone wanting to play, even for a short spell, or watch is welcome. The event will also feature a raffle and an auction.

For more information contact Dan Taylor on 07880-518907 or Steve Taylor on 07872-426931.
