A ROTARY club has collected £2,000 for a cancer charity.
The Rotary Club of Durham Bede raised the cash for Macmillan Cancer Support by holding a bucket collection in the Metro Centre, Gateshead.
Club leaders presented the money to Michelle Muir, the charity’s fundraising manager for County Durham, ahead of their usual Tuesday meeting at Finbarr’s restaurant, in Durham City, today (Tuesday, April 22).
Ms Muir said it was a very generous donation and the club had been a pleasure to work with.
“This is a fantastic amount of money to raise. In County Durham we have to raise £700,000 a year to provide the services required.”
