A COLLEGE has a distinctly Scandinavian flavour once again this year.
New College Durham has welcomed 29 visiting students from Elvebakken School in Oslo, Norway, to study A-Levels.
The 16- and 17-year-olds will also improve their language skills and are staying with host families in the area.
They were welcomed to the North-East at a Durham Town Hall reception hosted by Councillor John Robinson, the Mayor of Durham.
The Norwegian programme was established in 2010.
Jon Ridley, the college’s head of sixth form, said: “We are delighted to welcome another group of Norwegian students.
“The strength of the project is based on the principles of academic and personal development which results in the Norwegian students returning home having achieved well in their studies with us.”
The college will hold a sixth form centre open day on Saturday, October 18, from 10.30am to noon.
