CHARITY Christmas cards have gone on sale at a city centre community building for the festive season.

Cards for Good Causes is back in Durham, selling on behalf of more than 30 local and national charities.

Set up in temporary shop facilities in Alington House, Saddler Street, it is offering a selection of more than 200 different designs of cards.

It is now 22 years since Cards for Goods Causes first launched a seasonal selling point in the city.

Area manager, Shelley Mills, said: “Durham has always held a special place in our hearts as we’ve been here since 1992 and built up a very loyal following, which grows year on year.

“However, there are still people who don’t know we’re here, so we need to continue to spread the word.

“The shop is manned by volunteers, who, after all their hard work, are now very excited to invite the people of Durham, loyal supporters old and new, to come along to Alington House to support their chosen charities."

In the past five years, participating charities have received more than £20m from Cards for Good Causes.

The Alington House shop, one of 300 temporary premises nationwide, is trading 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday until December 16.
