A BITTER-sweet comedy set in a coalfield village after the pits have closed is set to start a week-long run at one of the region’s smallest theatres.

Members of Durham Dramatic Society are to kick-off their final stage production of the year on Sunday with a performance of Our House.

The show, directed by Chris Neville-Smith, is a version of the 2001 play by John Godber and tells the story of a colliery family, including May, played by Lesley Anderson and her husband, Ted, played by Colin Clark, who have lived in the same mining town for 45 years.

The show will be held at the 71-capacity City Theatre, in Fowlers Yard, on Back Silver Street, in Durham, running from Sunday, November 16 to Saturday, November 22.

The performances start at 2.30pm on Sunday and at 7.30pm from Monday, November 17 to Saturday, November 22.

Tickets are available from the Gala box office or 0191-3324041, and cost £6.50 while concession tickets are available, on Sunday and Monday only, for £5.50.
