CHILDREN, parents and teachers donned festive hats and costumes for a charity Santa walk.
About 250 pupils from Neville’s Cross Primary School, in Durham City, walked from their school to Neville’s Cross traffic lights, along the A167 and back again, accompanied by school staff and family members on Friday morning (December 12).
It is hoped the sponsored stunt, held for the second consecutive year, will have raised about £2,000 for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Merryoaks, which provides free day and in-patient care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
The school was also staging a Christmas jumper day, in aid of Save the Children, so the scene for passing motorists was certainly colourful.
Headteacher Pam Monaghan said: “It was fantastic – a great success.
“It was a lovely day and nice weather too.”
