SHOPPERS will have the opportunity to put their suggestions about crime priorities to the Police and Crime Commissioner face to face.

Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg will be in the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre in Durham from 11am to 2pm on New Year’s Eve to meet residents.

The event is one of a series to allow residents to give their views on the future of local policing as part of the commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan for 2015-17,

The Plan sets out priorities and provides direction to the Chief Constable who is then held to account for delivering the plan.

Mr Hogg said: “I want to hear from people about what they want to see their police force delivering, so that their views are reflected in the way that the Constabulary protects the public and tackles crime”.

Among the priorities being proposed by Mr Hogg are efforts to improve public confidence in local policing, improving services to both victims and offenders with poor mental health and reduce reoffending.

Anyone unable to attend the event in Durham can express their views via www.durham-pcc.gov.uk or call 03000 264631.

The consultation deadline is February 15.
