FORMER Newcastle United and England star Malcolm 'Super Mac' Macdonald is the latest North-East sporting star to support Geordie athlete Drew Graham who broke his neck last September.

Drew, 30, who has run the four-minute mile, was paralysed when dived into a creek in America while training for the triathlon.

The region's former world Cruiserweight World Boxing Champion Glenn McCrory and legendary journalist John Gibson, who has written about Newcastle United since 1966, will talk about their respective careers in the talk-in on Monday, January 26, at 7.30pm at The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle.

Mr McCrory, from Annfield Plain in County Durham, said: "I asked Super Mac if he'd come along and answer a few questions about his career.

"He said 'yes' straight away. He's a massive hero here on Tyneside and it is fantastic that he is giving his time up for such a worthwhile cause."

Called The Fighter and the Writer, the show will also feature top comedian John Scott and songs from Brian Kennedy, who is one of Ireland's best-known singers.

Tickets cost £10, to reserve them, contact The Stand on 0191-300-9700.
