SUPPORTERS of a city forum have raised more than £700 for charity.

Durham Area Action Partnership (AAP) raised £774.44 for Macmillan Cancer Support by holding two coffee mornings.

The events ran alongside two AAP functions: a Voluntary and Community Sector Network gathering in September and the It’s Up To You local funding vote in November, both held at Durham Town Hall.

Barbara Williams, a community development project officer for Durham AAP, said: “We wanted to organise a Macmillan coffee morning and decided the best way we could help the charity was to run coffee mornings alongside our established community events, inviting people to stop for coffee and homemade cake and make a donation to the charity in return.

“We must thank all the members of the public who visited and donated so generously.”

Pupils from Ludworth Primary School led a bucket collection.

AAP chair Colin Wilkes said: “This was a great idea, which will no doubt be repeated.

“Thank you to everyone involved and all those who visited, who have together enabled us to give this donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.”

The cheque was presented to Macmillan fundraising manager Michelle Muir at Durham Town Hall on Friday (February 6).
