A NEWLY reformed school football team is kitted out for action thanks to a village partnership.

Cassop Primary School, in Cassop, near Durham City, has a football team for the first time in several years.

Now the team has new kits and associated clothing, thanks to an £800 donation from Cassop Village Partnership.

The Partnership supports a range of causes across the village and has donated strips and training tracksuits to the school team.

The handover took place at the school on Friday (February 13), ahead of an assembly on the last day before the school broke up for its half-term break.

On hand were Bill Walker, Joyce Williams and Carol Kirk from Cassop Village Partnership.

The school has a strong focus on sport, including a project with Newcastle Falcons rugby coaches which emphasises the importance of healthy lifestyles.

It recently achieved the Sainsbury’s School Games Silver Mark Status and Katy McLean, England’s Rugby World Cup winning captain, is due to visit the school to present the award next month (March).
